A number of students reportedly exhibited flu-like symptom but the officials from this school rejected the DOH 7 officials to enter the school premises.

Secretary Lapus said they will look on this matter yet he added that the incident is incredible that they did not take steps (to coordinate with DOH).

There were 7 schools in Cebu that are being monitored after exhibiting flu-like symptoms like fever. Kintanar declined to name the schools except for the Philippine Science HS - Argao and Talamban Elementary School.

Two others were private schools, while the other was in Naga City and another was in Minglanilla town.

DOH officials learned the cases of possible A(H1N1) in some schools from the mother whose child, a student of the school, had fever. The mother told DOH-7 that there were at least 42 students who also had fever. The DOH 7 is now concerned about the number of private schools who have possible flue cases but failed to report for unknown reasons.

Only the Armed Forces Research Institute for Medical Science in the government-run Vicente Sotto Medical Memorial Center in Cebu City is allowed to conduct A(H1N1) test because the virus is new and the technology or testing kits was given by the USA.
